Leisure Education Trust

Leisure Hotels is proud to be associated to the Leisure Education Trust. The Leisure Education Trust was founded in 2005. It wants to foster academic talent, by opening doors to a higher standard of secondary education and, in so doing, to invest in the future of South Africa.

Thanks to a number of successful fundraising initiatives in 2008, the Trust currently sponsors 30 learners from disadvantaged backgrounds by paying for all education-related costs for the duration of their secondary school careers. The fact that last year 1 of these learners finished top of her standard, another placed 1st in class and a third received 100% for Xhosa is testament to the success of the Trust!

In 2010 the Trust aims to take on an additional 30 learners - totalling 60 sponsored learners for the year! - and testing of promising Grade 7 applicants is already underway. This mammoth task will involve testing some 400 children.

Furthermore all the Trust's administration costs are covered by the Leisure Group, so every cent raised is used to directly sponsor the learners.
